Martinizing

Good question!  My intention was to blog about Pliny, the Natural History mono print series, with engaging facts and fiction. ( more about that later).

Above artwork is my painting: ” Martinizing”.  Acrylic. Yep, I can paint, too.

Anyway, I have been totally embroiled, enmeshed and entangled with continuing medical issues and financial difficulties. Takes up so much time and energy.  However, I will not slip over to the dark side in this blog!

nhhamilton

Today’s NH: “Alexander Hamilton”.  To those of you new to my premise, your 1st question should be, True or False?.

This mono print was made by printing 2 copper aquatint plates in two different colors of oil ink to create the background stripes. The middle panel depicts the history of religion in icon form-a soft ground etching. The upper right corner is a chine collé with a line etching of a brain, overprinted with an American flag lino, printed on tulle. Real $10 bill. Image size is 12 x 18 inches, on 24 x 30 Rives B.F.K.  A nice, sturdy paper that can take multiple printing techniques, wet or dry. Following so far? Please feel free to ask about these printmaking terms.

“Isn’t life strange”… I think that is enough for today. Please share this blog.

Just a few sentences and a picture. Most days. Artwork. Humor. Okay, some politics and social commentary. Would you sign up/follow my blog? Today’s monoprint from my Natural History series is “NH: Polar Bear” True or false? We’ll discuss Pliny the Elder later.

Yesterday’s print, “NH Bribery”, was true. HUH!

Aquatint etching, linocut, trace transfer monotype. Monoprint. Edition 1/1. For sale! Each print background consists of 2, differently colored, inked, aquatinted copper plates printed over each other. This produces the variegated stripes.
Then I employ a variety of printing techniques: linocuts, collograph, etchings, monotyping, chine colle, etc., to create the subject. I design all the fonts by hand.

I don’t find treason laughable. Or bribery. They are among the most serious threats to America. Responsibility and the law must address these foul grievances. Today’s print is several years old. Substitute U.S.A. and Russia for Switzerland? Except, and accept that this is not going to happen soon. Constant vigilance.

Yesterday’s monotype, “Natural History: Bill of Rights”, was true. View more from this series on my website: http://www.hladikvoss.com

Glowworms!

Posted on: June 15, 2016

Feel like something from the realm of world history today. Must be thinking about my father, Douglas Anderson Hladik who served in the ETO in WWII. ( look up ETO if you don’t know what that means). Was awarded the Bronze Star. More on this later-it’s a great story of personal initiative and the bravado of youth.

So is this true??? Shall I start awarding prizes to the first person to respond correctly? Still building a following for this blog.

Where to begin today? Maybe with our American Colonial past. The Constitution?

My belief is that our Founding Fathers, not being able to look into the future, posited gun ownership as a reasonable right. Settlers shot game for food. They used weapons to protect their families from massacres-not to start them.

Society changes slowly. People’s minds even more slowly. And then we hit a point where we question what changes will make us stronger.

You can’t legislate mental sanity, religious fanaticism or terrorism. We can never be fully safe.

My heart is with Orlando.
